Editors & Prefabs
Prefabs
Prefabs are reusable, pre-created editor content. Demo Patch 5 introduced import/export and default prefabs that can be toggled in World Creation; Patch 6 made imported prefab content editable within the world.

What a prefab gives you
A prefab packages editor content you can reuse rather than build again. Our recommendation for learning: begin with a default prefab as an example, then study the appearance, functional template, and map-placement layers one at a time.
Defaults and imported content
| Capability | What the Demo notes establish |
|---|---|
| Default prefabs | World Creation can toggle the included default prefab content on or off. |
| Import and export | Pre-created editor content can be shared between creations through the prefab system. |
| Editing after import | Patch 6 makes imported content editable world content. |
Prefabs, worlds, sprites, and code mods
The October 15 announcement lists prefabs, worlds, and custom sprites as three Workshop sharing categories planned for launch. A prefab is editor content; a world is a whole creation; a custom sprite is artwork. The separate code-modding framework is a later plan, explained on the Workshop and Modding page.
Help while learning the editors
Demo Patch 5 announced F1 as the Guidebook shortcut inside each editor. Use the editor comparison to choose which responsibility you want to learn.
