Workshop & Modding
Workshop & Modding
Steam Workshop support was announced for worlds, prefabs, and custom sprites at Early Access launch. The developer distinguishes those shared assets from code modding: a framework for extending the game’s code is planned for version 1.0.

Three announced Workshop categories
| Category | What it shares |
|---|---|
| Worlds | Whole player-created worlds to share and explore. |
| Prefabs | Reusable custom content made with the game’s editors. |
| Custom Sprites | Player-created artwork for use in the game. |
Editor content is different from game code
Prefabs are pre-created editor content with import/export support; Demo Patch 6 made imported content editable within the world. Custom sprites supply artwork. Neither of those facts establishes a public code-mod SDK.
The code-modding framework plan
The October 26 Q&A uses modding primarily to mean extending the game’s code. That framework is planned for the 1.0 release, with a possibility of earlier limited access for selected modders. No general earlier release date is confirmed.
What this lets you plan
Choose Workshop sharing if your goal is a world, reusable editor content, or custom artwork. If your goal is new game behavior implemented in code, wait for a framework announcement.
